Dr. Timothy Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics International, visited Tsinghua on April 21 and delivered a speech on the “Special Olympics Movement in China.”
During his speech, Dr. Shriver discussed the growth of the Special Olympics, noting its fast development in China. He encouraged the young people of China to serve and care about individuals with disabilities.
Mr. Wang Zhijun, Chairman of SO China, Mr. Yan-Pai Tsin, Managing Director of SO East Asia, and Mr. Yong Zhijun, National Director, SO China, accompanied Mr. Shriver on the visit to campus.
Prior to the speech, Professor Chen Xu, Senior Administrator of the University, met and had a talk with Dr. Shriver.
The Special Olympics is an international organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition.
