Commencement for Graduate Students Held

More than 3,000 graduate students received degrees at Tsinghua University's 2011 Graduate Commencement Ceremony on the morning of June 28, 2011. Among the graduates, 691 received doctorates and 2,918 received master’s degrees.
Speaking during the ceremony at the university campus, Tsinghua President and Chairman of the Degree Conferral Committee Gu Binglin congratulated the graduating students, commending them for their hard work and contributions to the development of Tsinghua. He expressed the hope that the students will bear in mind the encouragement from Chinese President Hu Jintao in his speech at the celebration for Tsinghua’s 100th anniversary and strive to develop their academic and moral excellence, their innovative minds and hands-on experiences, and to combine their all-round development with their individual specialties.
Among the university’s top officials who presented degrees and certificates to the graduating students were Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin, Tsinghua University Council Chairman Hu Heping, Tsinghua deputy President Chen Jining, University Council Vice Chairperson Chen Xu, Vice President Kang Kejun, Vice President Xie Weihe, University Council Vice Chairperson Han Jingyang, Vice President Yuan Si, University Council Vice Chairperson Shi Zongkai, and University Council Vice Chairperson Deng Wei.
