Tsinghua delegation wins its sixth championship in 14th “Challenge Cup”
The Tsinghua team defended its championship in the grand final of the 14th “Challenge Cup” (National Competition of Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Works) held at Guangdong University of Technology on Nov. 22.
Scoring a total point of 450, Tsinghua University shared the championship with Shanghai Jiaotong University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology in this biennial competition known as the Olympics for Chinese college students of academic science and technology. The championship also made Tsinghua University the one with most wins overall among all other participating colleges and universities.
This year’s “Challenge Cup” welcomed over two million undergraduates from more than two thousand colleges and universities nationwide. A total of 783 works from 318 schools were selected into the finals after the fierce preliminary participated by 528 teams. The themes of breaking works covered 11 discipline fields such as life science, energy and chemical industry, mechanical engineering and automation, law and management. All entries were reviewed by a panel consisted of around one hundred specialists led by several academicians. Six works were selected by Tsinghua University to be entries for this year’s competition.
Challenge Cup is a national competition hosted by the Central Committee of the Youth League, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and the All-China Students’ Federation. As a leading extracurricular activity of science and technology, the “Challenge Cup” has a major influence on Chinese undergraduate students.
