Professor Li Daokui delivers keynote speech at Tanner Founder’s Lectures at Cambridge University

On March 17th, Li Daokui, Professor of Tsinghua University School of Social Sciences, Director of the Tsinghua University Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT) and Co-President of the Society for the Analysis of Government and Economics (SAGE), delivered a keynote speech at the Clare Hall Tanner and Tanner Founder’s Lecture 2025, at Cambridge University. The topic of the speech was "China's world view and implications for the future of the world". Based on his new book published by W.W. Norton & Company, China's World View, Professor Li Daokui explored the inner working of China's social and economic system, China's basic principles in handling international affairs, the sustainability of China's development, and the prospect of an emerging multipolar world. He called on the international community, including western countries, to proactively recognize China's development and i and seize the opportunities brought about by China's development.

The atmosphere was friendly and warm. About 200 people attended the lecture, and some guests attended the dinner held at Clare Hall. Participants included the Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University, the deans of various colleges of Cambridge University, members of the British Parliament, senior officials of the British Foreign Office, former or incoming British ambassadors to various countries, reporters from the news media, faculty members and students of Cambridge University.

Professor Allan Short, President of Clare Hall, presided the Tanner Founder’s Lecture and Professor Rana Mitter of Harvard University made his keynote speech before Professor Li Daokui. President Short moderated a lively Q&A session with the audience.

Tanner Lectures on Human Values is the world's top lecture series on humanities and social sciences, which was founded by Grace and Obert Tanner in the mid-1970s. The lecture has become one of the top academic lectures in the world's first-class universities, and being invited to give a speech at Tanner lecture on human values is a high honor and recognition of academic achievements of scholars in the fields of humanities and social sciences. The lecture is held in nine leading universities in the world every year, including Cambridge University, Oxford University, University of California at Berkeley, Harvard University, University of Michigan, Princeton University, Stanford University, University of Utah, and Yale University.
